That. Was. Awesome. Here’s a fun fact for ya, head coach Tony Elliott has more top 10 road wins (1) than Penn State head coach James Franklin (0). Anyway, all jokes aside, what an exciting game and truly unbelievable upset. Virginia showed a tremendous amount of resilience, especially in the fourth quarter, and finally pulled out a win in a close game with a 31-27 victory against previously unbeaten North Carolina.

Unfortunately, time for celebrations is short, as the Cavaliers have to hop right back on a plane and fly down to Florida to take on an impressive Miami team. While the Hurricanes might be 5-2, they are extremely close to being undefeated and ranked as one of the top teams in the country.

I’m sure everyone can remember their loss against Georgia Tech. All the offense needed to do was kneel the ball down to end the game, but instead continued to run it. Ultimately, the Canes fumbled the ball and Georgia Tech was able to score a game-winning touchdown with one second remaining. Miami then lost the next week to UNC, but a win in that game seemed impossible after losing in such devastating fashion. The point is this team is really good and rebounded well last week against Clemson in a double overtime win. Miami is strong in the trenches, which will surely present problems for Virginia.

Virginia fans are riding a bit of a high this week after such an exciting win, but Saturday could be a return to reality. If the Hoos want to continue this unexpected success, it’ll be on the offense to slow this game down, just like it did against UNC. Before we get to all that, let’s take a closer look at this matchup in the game preview series.
