The Virginia football team entered its game with Georgia Tech with some positive momentum thanks to two wins in October, improving grades, and a little bit of hope. It felt like an important game for Tony Elliott and the program.

Message board wisdom:

  • 3-6 vs. 2-7 might not feel like much difference BUT I think today’s game is HUGH. Can we sustain the
improvement over the last two weeks? Can we close at the end against a team we are favored against? I’m thinking the Hoos find a way to pull it out – HooWorldOrder
  • This is the most important game in Elliott’s time. Win and momentum picks up, lose and it starts looking
shady again. This is a must-win game for the staff. – Jimi W

Georgia Tech wrecked the feelings of improvement that preceded the game. In its first win in Charlottesville in 10 seasons and only its third since 1990, GT exercised a lot of demons while dominating Virginia on both the offensive and defensive fronts. The 28-point margin of victory was the Jackets largest in an ACC game since a 66-31 win at Louisville on Nov. 5, 2018.

Again, this week, one of my points of emphasis for the offense from the Miami game repeated itself as UVA failed to score any points on three possessions inside the 40-yard line and managed to only collect 17 of a possible 42 overall points.
