At long last, the Virginia football team grabbed the first ACC home win of the Tony Elliott era when it defeated Duke 30-27 on Saturday. The Cavaliers led early, stood tied at halftime, and then used a big third quarter to get the job done.
In the end, all three phases contributed to what the Hoos hope is a turning point moment for the Elliott era. The offense gained 448 yards, committed no turnovers, and came through with a pair of explosive touchdown passes. The defense forced 2 turnovers, came up with some key stops, and logged 9 pass breakups. Special teams converted a critical field goal late and recovered an onsides kick attempt from the Blue Devils to secure the victory.

A quick look at the PFF grades shows Virginia had its best performance of the season against a Football Bowl Subdivision team. The overall grade is the top of the season against an FBS team, while the offense claimed its highest grade of the season regardless of opponent. The defense posted its highest mark since the William & Mary win. UVA had season highs in the passing (92.4) and pass rush (67.2) categories.
