From the moment Chris Tyree entered the transfer portal, the process took about nine days before making the “no brainer” decision to return home and finish his college football career at Virginia.
“It’s great being able to represent my hometown, my home university, that’s one of the reasons why I’m here,” the Chester, Va. native said. “Just being close to home is something I really appreciate. I know my mom definitely appreciates it as well.”
Tyree has already taken advantage of the short one hour and change drive home to see family, get a home cooked meal, and spend time with his dog. The Notre Dame transfer was not the only former high profile 804-product to see the upside in a return home either. Former UNC receiver Andre Greene Jr. made the same decision a few weeks later in December.
“Being a Virginia guy, being so close to home, seeing what Coach [Tony] Elliott is doing with this program, it just seemed like a place that I would really like to be a part of,” Greene said. “I see the upward trajectory that they’re going in and I wanted to be a part of that.”
