Linemen Lead E.C. Glass Into 2005

E.C. Glass head coach Ed Landis boasts what should be an intimidating defensive line for opposing teams next season. There are two major reasons why this is so…defensive tackle Anthony Davis and defensive end Jerald Brown.

Anthony Davis…

“Anthony’s 6-5, 352 pounds and probably runs a 5.5 in the 40 [yard dash],” Landis said. “He has bench pressed 300 pounds, squatted 500 pounds, power cleaned from the floor 285 pounds…and he’s only 16. I’ve got a kid I used to coach (former Virginia Tech star OL Jake Grove ) that plays for the Oakland Raiders and he was in our weight room about two weeks ago. He said ‘coach, if that kid walked in our locker room, no one would blink an eye.’ He’s as good looking a big kid as I’ve ever coached.”

In addition to obvious size and strength, Davis possesses very good athleticism for a player his size. In goal line situations, Landis will use Davis in the offensive backfield as a blocker.
