In two seasons as Petersburg’s starting quarterback, Kevin “Duke” Green guided the Crimson Wave to back-to-back playoff appearances including a 7-3 overall record in 2010. The versatile senior, a multi-sport athlete at Petersburg, is known for being athletic and being a playmaker, but this past season he also showed off his toughness.
Early in the fourth quarter in the regular season finale against Meadowbrook, Green suffered what turned out to be a Grade 2 knee sprain. He stayed in the game, helping Petersburg hold on to win a game it had to have, and would go on to throw for a region-record 502 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions in a gutsy losing effort against Hanover in the Group AAA, Division 5 regional semifinals.
