TheSabre.com is pleased to welcome Sean Singletary on board as a guest basketball analyst for the remainder of the season. Singletary will provide things like commentary, analysis, anecdotes from his playing days, and more. The Sabre is excited to have his insight on the Hoos and the ACC.

Singletary, who went on to play in the NBA, starred for four years at Virginia, earning All-ACC recognition of some kind in each season. He received a spot on the All-ACC Freshman Team in 2005 and was a three-time First-Team All-ACC member in 2006, 2007, and 2008. He also garnered All-American honors in 2007 (NABC third team) and 2008 (Associated Press honorable mention). He helped the Hoos share the ACC regular season title in 2007.

2015BB_cleveland_singltary002aDuring his Cavalier career, Singletary became the first player in ACC history to finish with 2,000 points, 500 assists, 400 rebounds, and 200 steals. He recorded 2,079 points (fifth all-time), 587 assists (third all-time), and 200 steals (second all-time) to carve out spots all around the UVa record book. Singletary’s 222 made 3-pointers (fourth all-time) and 573 made free throws (fourth all-time) are also among the program’s all-time best.

Virginia retired Singletary’s No. 44 in 2009.

Singletary now runs “Sean Singletary Basketball” in Charlottesville and offers camps, clinics, and individual training sessions. Singletary is offering clinics this month (Jan. 17 and 18, Jan. 24 and 25 – see this frozen post on the message boards for more details) in Charlottesville. Make sure to check out the full Sean Singletary Basketball website here for more information on those clinics and other scheduled appearances.

Stay tuned to TheSabre.com for Singletary’s contributions to the site as well.
