The Virginia basketball team dug an early hole against Boston College on Thursday night at the ACC Tournament. The Hoos managed to erase that 10-point deficit, but still couldn’t get firm control of the game as the minutes ticked away. BC’s Quinten Post was a big reason why.

The Eagles’ 7’0” center caused all kinds of problems as he often does for opponents as he finished with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Beyond the typical headaches, though, Post kept coming up with clutch shots. In the second half, he broke a 37-37 tie, extended a 44-43 lead, answered when UVA took the lead at 47-46, and then snapped a 53-53 too.

With NCAA Tournament hopes and pressure on the Wahoos, the Post problems kept adding weight to the worries. That’s when 6’8” Jordan Minor emerged to help UVA steady its defense, get a win, and keep the bracketology bubble in play. Minor took over the defensive assignment on Post following the layup that gave Boston College a 55-53 lead with 5:20 to go in regulation. Post didn’t score again.

Minor got a blocked shot against Post one-on-one along the baseline with 1:21 to go. The Cavalier senior then snared 3 steals in overtime, including at least one pass that was heading to Post on a high-low feed.

“I just wanted to try to disturb his rhythm, get him out of rhythm” Minor said. “He’s the engine for them. He kind of starts everything for them. I just wanted to make it as hard on him as I could, try to make all his buckets, make him earn all of them. So that’s more what my mindset was going in.”

While Minor somewhat downplayed the heights of his play after the win, Virginia teammates and fans did not. The team let Minor put the sticker on the ACC Tournament bracket since the Hoos advanced, as you can see in the Twitter post. Check out some of the message board posts too celebrating the graduate transfer’s big moment and the matchup with NC State’s DJ Burns Jr. in the upcoming semis.
