Virginia Basketball Top Target Isaac Traudt Sets Commitment Date

Traudt averaged 25 points and nine rebounds per game his junior season with Grand Island. He followed up with a standout performance on the 2021 Under Armour Association AAU circuit.

One of Virginia basketball’s top overall targets in the class of 2022 is ready to reveal his college choice. Isaac Traudt, a 6’9” senior out of Grand Island Senior High School in Grand Island, Nebraska, plans to announce his college commitment on Saturday, August 28, at 11 a.m. EST.

Traudt has not announced a set group of finalists. However, the skilled senior has only visited five schools: Creighton (unofficial), Michigan State (official), Nebraska (official), North Carolina (official) and Virginia (official). Traudt made all four official visits this past June. In an interview with The Sabre, he reflected on his experience at UVA.

“I just told [head coach Tony Bennett] I was blown away with everything,” Traudt said. “I knew the staff were great people, but I didn’t know how the facilities were so amazing. The same with the campus. I knew it was historic, but it was more than I thought. I didn’t know there would be a cool college town either.”

Coach Bennett extended a scholarship offer to Traudt this past January. He has been in hot pursuit of the standout forward ever since. The July Evaluation Period was a great example, as either Bennett or a Virginia assistant were front and center at all or most of Traudt’s AAU games. Bennett began all three periods by watching the Nebraska native, who played for the Nebraska Supreme on the Under Armour Association circuit. He then scouted Traudt and Virginia commitment Isaac McKneely at the 2021 NBPA Top 100 Camp.

Traudt impressed recruiting analysts with his play this summer and is currently rated a 4-star prospect and the no. 49 senior in the nation by 247Sports, a 4-star prospect and the no. 60 senior in the nation by Rivals, and a 4-star prospect and the no. 73 senior in the nation by ESPN.com.

As of this writing, three Rivals.com publishers, including those covering Creighton and Nebraska, have forecasted Virginia as the pick. Two 247Sports analysts, including the Creighton Insider reporter, have picked the Hoos as well. We’ll find out for sure where the talented Traudt is headed Saturday morning.
