Jon Adair, 2025 Offensive Lineman, Commits To Virginia Football

In the middle of a good week with the transfer portal, the Virginia football team pulled in a commitment from the high school ranks to keep its recruiting momentum going Friday. The Cavaliers received a commitment from offensive lineman Jon Adair to grow their 2025 class to three prospects.

Adair announced his decision on social media.

The 6’5″, 265-pounder joined quarterback Cole Geer and receiver Isaiah Robinson in the class of 2025. All three players list from the offensive side of the ball, though Robinson could be slotted at defensive back as well. Robinson committed in late November, while Geer made the call earlier in December. Adair is the first offensive lineman from this class, stacking behind 2024 OL recruits Grant Ellinger, Benjamin York, and Dane Wleklinski as the Cavaliers try to build the out years for the always important group up front. Adair projects as an interior lineman at Virginia.

Adair owns a 3-star ranking on 247 Sports and Rivals. The Lipscomb Academy prospect out of Nashville is the No. 17 overall recruit in Tennessee per the 247 Composite Ranking. He played under Trent Dilfer at Lipscomb before he took over as the head coach at UAB for the 2023 season. He also received offers from Florida State, Virginia Tech, Duke, Kentucky, and Missouri with the UVA offer coming in June. He attended a camp in Charlottesville this summer and most recently visited the Hoos in September.

Adair continued a hot streak in recruiting for Terry Heffernan in what’s really his first recruiting cycle with the Cavaliers. Heffernan was hired in January when Garett Tujague shifted to NC State. This week, UVA also picked up a commitment from Central Florida lineman Drake Metcalf, who previously played on the line at Stanford under Heffernan.

  1. Apparently, Syracuse isn’t the only ACC school with a new and great recruiter.
Let’s keep building the class to help T.E. take us to a nice bowl next year.

  2. We need 4-star recruits and maybe (hopefully) an occasional 5-star, rather than a plethora of 3-stars and continual Ivy League or similar low-level transfers. I was hoping TE could tap the 757 area. He and his assistants have been dismal failures at recruiting. They are lucky to have nabbed a frosh QB who came in under the radar. We are not even getting the level or recruits as JMU or Liberty. More likely we will see more mediocracy from UVA football, especially since TE and his staff have not shown the abilty to coach 3-star players into higher-level recruits like Bronco did.
