Justin Rowe, 2025 Linebacker, Commits To Virginia Football

The Virginia football team continued to compile good news on the recruiting trail on Thursday. For the fourth time in a week, the Cavaliers picked up a commitment in the Class of 2025 with linebacker Justin Rowe making the call.

Rowe made the announcement on social media. He joined Donovan Robinson, Isaiah Reese, and Willem Thurber as commitments since last Friday.

The recent recruiting run for the Wahoos has featured the linebacker position as three of the four most recent pledges project to that spot, though in potentially hybrid ways. The three R’s – Robinson, Reese, and now Rowe – all fit that type of mold as versatile athletes from their high school teams that could line up as linebackers with hybrid safety skills. Rowe checks in at 6’2” and 215 pounds, which falls right in line with Robinson at 6’3”/210 and Reese at 6’3”/200. Most of UVA’s linebacker recruits in recent seasons have carried similar physical profiles.

Rowe plays in a lot of spots for Asheville High School in North Carolina, including outside linebacker, strong safety, and receiver. He logged 31 tackles with 2 interceptions last season on defense and added 455 receiving yards with 5 touchdowns on offense too.

Rowe’s commitment pushes Virginia up to 10 recruits in the Class of 2025. In addition to Rowe, Robinson, and Reese, Christopher Spence (corner) also projects to defense while Jon Adair (offensive line), Cole Geer (quarterback), Grayson Reid (offensive line), Isaiah Robinson (receiver), Thurber (tight end), and Justin Zames (tight end) project to offense.

All 10 players carry 3-star recruiting rankings by 247 Sports. Rowe is ranked No. 22 in the state of North Carolina and as the No. 108 linebacker nationally per 247 as well. The offer lists for most of this year’s class show significant interest from big schools. Rowe, for example, made his Virginia choice over other finalists Wake Forest and South Carolina. He also had offers from North Carolina, Boston College, Appalachian State, Duke, Michigan, and many others.
