Jade Baker became a track and field star at the University of Virginia when she set the school record for longest hammer throw at 63 meters, 61 centimeters. Baker is the latest featured athlete for “The Sabre Interviews” on Sabre TV.
Baker came to UVA as a sprinter, potentially following in the footsteps of her mother Nevada Tinsley, who was an ACC champion sprinter for the Hoos. Baker, however, switched to field events and eventually took over the school record that she still holds in the hammer throw event. After graduation, Baker went on to become the first Black woman student body president of Georgetown’s prestigious law school.
Doria Martingayle interviewed Baker to talk about her journey from track to law school graduate.
Two incredible, young women!
