Stevie Johnson

Notes: Johnson enjoyed an impressive junior season, racking up 90 tackles including 13 tackles-for-loss and three sacks. He played a lot more pass coverage than in past years and responded with four interceptions.

Coach Myron Matthias: “He has a lot of things you can’t coach at the linebacker position. He goes sideline to sideline. He knows how to get off blocks very well. He has the instinct to have a nose for the ball. A lot of high school teams run a lot of trickery and he doesn’t get fooled too often with the misdirection and things like that. He reads his keys very well. He’s aggressive and fast…he runs a 4.6 in the 40. When he sees the ball, he’s ferocious in getting there. He’ll run through someone, even if it’s his own player, to get to the ball. He’s going to get to the ball. And he’s our team leader. The team feeds off him because he’s intense. He gives 110 percent the entire game.”
