The Virginia Cavaliers are looking to regain some momentum in this recruiting class. The most recent verbal
commitment was from cornerback Chris Gorham in late October. Several prospects close to making decisions are athletes
Marquise Liverpool and Ahmad Bradshaw . Virginia is the favorite to land Bradshaw while UVA and BC are contending for
Liverpool. Marquise visits Boston College this weekend, however I would guess UVA will be his choice in the end.
A major target for the Cavaliers is wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett , who made an official visit to UVA last weekend.
Reportedly, the weekend went very well for the Cavaliers in general, and specifically Jarrett was reported to have a
great visit. If Virginia can get a commitment from him (and the chances are rising), he may be one of the players to get
the ball rolling so to speak. In addition, he is one of the top targets on offense.
In terms of players on offense, Virginia probably has a 50 percent chance or better, in my opinion, to land Andre
Brown, Dwayne Jarrett , and Doug Dutch (remember Liverpool is an athlete). Dutch is slightly more difficult to read
because he really liked all three visits and felt comfortable at all places. If Virginia can land Jarrett, that may
actually help them with Dutch. Dutch knows the traditions at Michigan, Florida, and Miami, and if UVA can land a
comparable receiver it would certainly get his attention, in my opinion. UVA is in the running for and has a decent shot
for Eddie Royal and Phil Trautwein as well. Eric Dennis has some work to do academically, but if he can get past
admissions, it wouldn’t surprise me if he was offered and accepted.
Look for Virginia to add around 12 more players for this year’s class (using the full 25). Wide receiver is a big
need on offense, as is adding another big man to the offensive line. Andre Brown is a big target because he has truly
blossomed into a top, top talent. The top remaining offensive targets look like this…
