Anyone who followed the Virginia football team last season knows that its aerial attack struggled. Actually, that could be an understatement, given how the Cavaliers averaged 180 passing yards per game, their lowest output in a decade. On top of that, just 66 of the 179 receptions were made by wide receivers and not one wideout averaged more than 30 receiving yards. To make matters worse, the top pass catcher each of the last two years, tight end Heath Miller, will hang his spikes in an NFL locker room next fall. Problem?
Enter Brandon Woods and Maurice Covington , a pair of big and fast receivers from Southern Durham (N.C.) High School. When they enroll at UVa this summer, they will start upon the task they were brought in to accomplish: add speed and height to the Cavalier receiving corps and immediately open up the vertical passing game.
