Peter Lalich participated in UVa’s summer camp two years ago, the summer before his freshman year at West Springfield High School (Springfield, VA). Coach Al Groh and company certainly must have liked what they saw then and his prospects now, as Lalich earned a verbal scholarship offer from the staff earlier this year.
“I was offered [by Virginia] in June,” Lalich said. He believed Virginia had mailed the official offer yesterday (but hadn’t been home to check), which was the first day Division 1A programs can officially offer juniors. “I went to [Virginia’s] camp before my ninth grade year and did really well. And I went back for the spring game this year.”
At 6-5, 230 pounds, Lalich certainly has excellent size. He has solid athleticism as well and played wide receiver as well as quarterback last season. In five games at quarterback, Lalich completed 38 of 67 passes for 372 yards with five touchdowns and one interception.
